Former WWE chairman Vince McMahon has publicly criticized the upcoming Netflix docuseries "Mr. McMahon," alleging that it misrepresents his true character and conflates his fictional TV persona with his real-life self.

Vince McMahon, the former chairman of WWE and TKO Group Holdings, has lashed out at the impending Netflix docuseries that explores his rise in the professional wrestling industry and the controversies that have shadowed him for decades.

"Mr. McMahon" is a six-part mini-series scheduled to premiere on Netflix on Wednesday. It was directed by Chris Smith, with Bill Simmons and Zara Duffy serving as executive producers.

In a statement, McMahon expressed his dissatisfaction with the show's editing and the portrayal of himself as his on-screen persona, "Mr. McMahon."

"I don’t regret participating in this Netflix documentary. The producers had an opportunity to tell an objective story about my life and the incredible business I built, which were equally filled with excitement, drama, fun and a fair amount of controversy and life lessons," McMahon wrote. "Unfortunately, based on an early partial cut I’ve seen, this doc falls short and takes the predictable path of conflating the ‘Mr. McMahon’ character with my true self, Vince."

McMahon further asserted that important information had been omitted or misrepresented in the documentary's editing, with out-of-context footage and dated soundbites employed to deceive viewers. He also referenced a lawsuit filed against him by former employee Janel Grant, alleging sexual misconduct and sex trafficking, and expressed concern that it would be used to support a misleading narrative about him.

"In an attempt to further their misleading account, the producers use a lawsuit based on an affair I ended that I am, in fact ‘Mr. McMahon.’ "I hope the viewer will keep an open mind and remember that there are two sides to every story."

Grant's attorney, Ann Callis, responded to McMahon's statement, emphasizing the severity of the allegations against him.

"Janel Grant is a survivor of incomprehensible abuse, sexual assault, and human trafficking at the hands of Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and WWE," Callis said. "It takes immense strength to speak out against Goliaths, and she has courageously come forward not just to address her own suffering, but also to act for those who are afraid to speak out."

Callis also criticized the docuseries for not including Grant's participation, stating that her story was integral to a complete and accurate portrayal of McMahon's conduct.

"Many of the stories in the last few months have not portrayed her in the way she deserves to be portrayed as a survivor of human trafficking and sexual abuse."

In a separate statement, Callis reiterated the allegations against McMahon, strongly refuting his characterization of their relationship as an "affair."

"Vince McMahon physically and emotionally abused, sexually assaulted and human trafficked Janel Grant for more than two years," Callis asserted. "Calling his horrific and criminal behavior ‘an affair’ is delusional and nothing more than a sad attempt to save his shredded reputation."

Grant has filed a lawsuit against McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and WWE, seeking accountability for the alleged abuse she endured.

Fox News Digital reached out to Netflix and The Ringer, which Simmons owns, for comment.
