Senator Steve Daines, who previously warned about potential terrorist infiltration across the southern border, says the recent arrests of eight suspects with ties to ISIS serve as a wake-up call for President Biden.
Senator Steve Daines (R-Mont.) has been sounding the alarm about the potential for terrorists to enter the United States through the southern border. His concerns have now been substantiated by the recent arrests of eight Tajikistan nationals with ties to the Islamic State (ISIS).
The arrests, the result of a joint operation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), occurred in New York City, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia. According to a federal source, all eight suspects had initially crossed the U.S. southern border illegally.
Daines had specifically raised concerns about Central Asia as a potential origin for terrorist threats. He cited a "high-level individual" who warned him that over 50,000 Central Asians had crossed into the U.S. illegally in 2023.
The senator expressed concerns that such individuals could be "part of sleeper cells for a possible terror attack on our soil." These concerns seem to have been validated by reports that one of the arrested suspects was caught on a wiretap discussing making bombs.
FBI Director Christopher Wray has also expressed concern about the possibility of a coordinated attack in the U.S. similar to the ISIS-K attack at a Russian concert hall in March.
Daines argues that the arrests highlight the threat posed by the lack of security at the border. "The pattern is clear and there is not a bigger national security threat facing our nation than Biden's southern border crisis," he said.
The White House has not yet responded to Fox News Digital's request for comment.
The arrests serve as a wake-up call for the Biden administration to address the border crisis and take proactive measures to prevent potential terrorist activity. The administration needs to increase border security, enhance screening procedures, and work with international partners to identify and track individuals with potential ties to terrorist organizations.
The safety and security of the nation depend on the ability to effectively manage the border and prevent the infiltration of individuals who pose a threat to national security. The Biden administration must prioritize border security and take the necessary steps to protect the country from potential terrorist attacks.
The arrests of eight ISIS suspects with ties to the southern border highlight the urgency of addressing the border crisis and strengthening national security. The Biden administration must act swiftly to implement measures that prevent potential terrorists from entering the U.S. and protect the safety of its citizens.
