Despite recent speculation and pressure, the White House press secretary unequivocally states that President Biden has no intention of stepping down from the 2024 presidential race.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has firmly denied rumors of President Biden potentially withdrawing from the 2024 presidential race, despite speculation and pressure from some Democrats and former allies.

Addressing reporters on Wednesday, Jean-Pierre stated, "Absolutely not. And you heard, I think, I believe directly from the campaign as well."

She attributed Biden's subpar performance in the recent CNN Presidential Debate to health issues, citing a cold and lingering jet lag from his European trip. However, she reiterated that he remains determined to continue his campaign.

Jean-Pierre emphasized Biden's accomplishments during his presidency, including creating jobs, strengthening the economy, and expanding health care. She stressed that these achievements should overshadow the debate performance and demonstrate his commitment to serving the American people.

"A lot of what's on his agenda is very much popular with the majority of the American people... He wants to continue to do that work," she said.

Despite the recent controversy, Jean-Pierre urged the White House staff to remain focused on governing and drown out external noise. She mentioned White House chief of staff Jeff Zients' efforts to calm the situation and encourage teamwork.

She also acknowledged Biden's own outreach to top Democratic lawmakers and his recognition of Vice President Kamala Harris as the future of the party.

Addressing previous comments by Biden in which he described himself as a transition candidate, Jean-Pierre clarified that his statement remains valid. She emphasized Harris's role as a partner in delivering results for the American people.

"The transition would happen in eight years," she said. "I'm not going to get into... speculating from here."

Meanwhile, President Biden is set to host a meeting with Democratic governors on Wednesday night to discuss various issues and build party unity. Among the attendees are expected to be governors from Minnesota, Illinois, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Michigan, Kentucky, California, North Carolina, and New Jersey.

Jean-Pierre's assertions come in the wake of a poll by USA TODAY/Suffolk University indicating that a majority of voters, including Democrats, favor Biden dropping out of the race. However, she dismissed the poll results, highlighting Biden's strong record and his determination to continue serving the nation.
