The WNBA has reportedly rescinded the second technical foul given to Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese, which led to her ejection from Tuesday's game against the New York Liberty. Reese, who had 13 points and 10 rebounds before being ejected, is now eligible to play in Chicago's next game.
The WNBA has reportedly rescinded the second technical foul given to Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese, which led to her ejection from Tuesday's game against the New York Liberty. The Chicago Tribune first reported the league's decision, which was later confirmed by the WNBA to Fox News Digital.
Reese was ejected with less than three minutes remaining in the game after receiving two technical fouls. The second technical came after she appeared to argue with an official, and the Tribune reported that she was given the technical for "disrespectfully addressing" the official.
Sky coach Teresa Weatherspoon said she was confused by the ejection, telling reporters, "I tried to get an explanation. I did not." Reese's ejection left her teammates and coach frustrated, as they felt it was a pivotal moment in the game.
However, the WNBA has since rescinded the second technical foul, meaning Reese is now eligible to play in Chicago's next game. The league has not yet commented on the decision to rescind the technical foul, but it is a significant development for the Sky, who are now 1-3 on the season.
Reese, who was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 WNBA Draft, has been a key contributor for the Sky in her rookie season. In four games, she is averaging 13.8 points, 9.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.0 blocks per game.
The Sky will be back in action on Friday when they host the Dallas Wings. Reese is expected to be available to play in the game, which will be a key matchup for both teams.
The WNBA's decision to rescind Reese's second technical foul is a positive development for the Sky, who need all the help they can get as they try to turn their season around. Reese is a talented young player who has the potential to be a star in the WNBA. With her back in the lineup, the Sky will be a much more dangerous team.
