WNBA rookie sensations Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese faced off for the fourth time this season, with Clark's Indiana Fever securing a decisive victory against Reese's Chicago Sky.

WNBA rookie sensations Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese once again took to the court in a thrilling showdown, with Clark's Indiana Fever triumphing 100-81 over Reese's Chicago Sky. This marks the Fever's third victory out of four against the Sky this season.

Since the Olympic break, the Fever have emerged victorious in their last three games, while the Sky have suffered five consecutive defeats. The previous three matchups between the two teams were decided by a mere 10 points, with each team claiming a single-point win. However, this encounter proved to be a blowout.

Reese's consistent performance yielded 10 points and 11 rebounds, surpassing Tina Charles' record for rookie double-doubles and Sylvia Fowles' Chicago season record. With a total of 399 rebounds, she also set a rookie record.

The game drew a sellout crowd of 9,445 to Wintrust Arena on Barbie Night, a tribute to Reese's former LSU nickname. NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal, who has taken on a mentorship role for Reese, was present on the sidelines Friday night. O'Neal is the president of basketball operations at Reebok, which signed Reese to a name, image, and likeness deal last October.

Clark, showcasing a new pair of Nike Kobe 6 sneakers, delivered another remarkable performance. She recorded 31 points and 12 assists, marking her 11th double-double of the year and setting a new career high in points. Clark is the only player to achieve three games with at least 25 points and 10 rebounds in a single season. She is also on track to shatter the single-season assists record.

Clark attributed the Fever's recent success to improved chemistry and teamwork. "We just understand each other a lot better," she remarked. "We build confidence through playing together and sharing the ball. It elevates our transition game and our defense."

Michaela Onyenwere led the Sky with 20 points, followed by Lindsay Allen with 19 and Rachel Banham with 14. Chennedy Carter was absent from the Sky's roster for the second consecutive game due to health and safety protocols.

On Wednesday, the Fever snapped an 11-game losing streak against the Connecticut Sun, marking their first victory over the rival franchise since July 2021. The Fever capped off their triumph with an encounter with Olympic gymnastics legend Simone Biles and Olympic gold medalist track star Gabby Thomas. The basketball pros exchanged smiles, hugs, and photos with the celebrated athletes.

Biles expressed her enthusiasm for the growth of women's sports on X, formerly Twitter: "EVERYONE WATCHES WOMENS SPORTS so happy to be able to go support! My first of many WNBA games."

The Fever will face the Dallas Wings on Sunday, while the Sky will travel to Minnesota for a game on September 1. The Associated Press contributed to this report.
