WWE SummerSlam Headed to Cleveland Browns Stadium with Intriguing Possibilities

This year's WWE SummerSlam premium live event (PLE) will take place in Cleveland Browns Stadium, the home turf of several notable figures in sports and entertainment, sparking speculation about potential matchups and memorable moments.

WWE SummerSlam, one of the most anticipated annual events on the wrestling calendar, is set to invade Cleveland Browns Stadium on August 3, 2024, bringing with it a unique blend of sports and spectacle. The Cleveland area holds a special significance for the WWE universe, being the hometown of United States Champion Logan Paul, his brother Jake, former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, his brother Travis, and Johnny Gargano, one-half of the acclaimed tag team known as DIY.

Gargano's excitement for SummerSlam's Cleveland stop is evident, as he expressed his desire to be "in any way, shape, or form" involved in the event. The possibility of a tag-team match featuring the Paul brothers against the Kelce brothers has generated significant buzz among fans, and Gargano doesn't rule it out.

"Yeah, that'd be big. You never know," Gargano said with a laugh. "Look, it's in Cleveland Browns Stadium, I will say. There are members of the Cleveland Browns roster that are wrestling fans. I'll mention David Njoku especially. I know Myles Garrett's done a Shawn Michaels pose a few times as well. I would not rule out any Cleveland Browns being in attendance that night."

The Cleveland Browns Stadium will mark a significant milestone for WWE, as it will host their first premium live event in the United States since Fastlane in 2019. The stadium's unique atmosphere and large capacity are expected to enhance the overall experience for fans.

For Gargano, a Cleveland native, the opportunity to perform in his hometown stadium is a dream come true.

"When I heard it was a possibility, I said, 'Please, just please,'" Gargano recalled. "You know how freaking cool that would be? This is something I've been waiting for, I don't want to say my whole life, but essentially my whole life, for the majority of my life. A huge big four WWE event in Cleveland, Ohio. The fact that it's in Cleveland Browns Stadium is something I never thought would happen."

Gargano's connection to Cleveland Browns Stadium runs deep. He attended his senior prom and 30th birthday celebration there, and even trained for Takeover: New York for his NXT championship in the iconic venue.

"I have so much history in that building. I pride myself on being the Cleveland professional wrestler because I am very proud to rep it wherever I go," Gargano said.

While Gargano's championship aspirations remain strong, he acknowledges that simply being a part of SummerSlam in Cleveland would be a fulfilling experience.

"If I were to get the opportunity to win the WWE tag-team titles in that stadium for my family and friends, that would be ... something I would remember for a very, very long time. Until the day I die really. That's the culmination of years of work. So, who knows? We'll see what happens," Gargano said.
