Xavi Departs Barcelona with a Clear Conscience, Cedes Explanations to President

Former Barcelona manager Xavi Hernández leaves the club with a clear conscience, stating that he did his best during his tenure. Xavi's departure comes after the club decided not to extend his contract, but the specific reasons for this decision remain undisclosed.

Xavi Hernández has stated that he is leaving Barcelona with a clear conscience, expressing confidence in his efforts during his time as manager. However, the former player acknowledged that it is up to club president Joan Laporta to provide an explanation for his departure.

"These have obviously been tough days, but my conscience is clear," Xavi said. "I have been here two-and-a-half years. It has not been easy. But I think that we can feel proud of the work we have done."

Xavi's departure marks the end of his first official managerial job outside of Qatar. He was brought back to Barcelona by Laporta in November 2021 and led the team to the Spanish league title last year.

In September, Xavi signed a one-year contract extension, but Barcelona has faced challenges this season, finishing a distant second to Real Madrid in the league standings.

Neither Laporta nor any club official has publicly disclosed the reasons behind Xavi's departure, and the former manager has declined to shed light on the circumstances of his exit.

"The president told me his reasons for why he thinks the club needs a change, and I can only respect that," Xavi said. "I am a club man. We shook hands, hugged and wished one another the best. From now on, I will be just another fan."

Xavi's departure has been met with speculation about his potential replacement, with Spanish and German media suggesting that former Bayern Munich coach Hansi Flick could be a possible successor.

Whoever takes over at Barcelona will inherit a team with promising young talents such as Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsí, Fermin López, and the injured Gavi Páez. However, the club's limited financial resources may pose challenges in signing new players.

Despite the challenges, Xavi expressed pride in his accomplishments as Barcelona manager. "We have had moments of good play," he said. "And when you see the young players playing, you realize that there is a future."

Xavi's departure concludes his second stint with Barcelona, where he made over 700 appearances as a player and won multiple major trophies. He leaves the club with a record of 58 wins, 22 draws, and 28 losses in all competitions.
